The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced a two-day annual preventive maintenance exercise at the Sagamu Transmission Substation in Ogun State, with electricity supply to some areas expected to be affected.
The maintenance, which began on Thursday, September 3, 2026, involves routine checks on the T1 and T2 30MVA, 132/33kV power transformers at the substation.
According to TCN, the exercise will run for seven hours each day, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is expected to end on Friday, September 4.
The company said the maintenance is necessary to ensure the optimal performance, reliability and continued availability of the transformers.
As a result of the exercise, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) is temporarily unable to off-take electricity to some of its customers from the T1 30MVA transformer.
TCN said the affected areas include REAL and Sagamu, while customers supplied through the T2 transformer will also experience interruptions on Friday during the maintenance period.
The affected T2 customers include CEPLASS, NNPC/Ogijo, Metafrique and Babcock.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience caused by the planned maintenance, stressing that the exercise is aimed at improving the reliability of electricity supply.
TCN urged affected consumers to bear with the temporary disruption as its maintenance crew carries out the scheduled work.
