The 1996 Set of the Anglican Grammar School , Ogbomoso Old Students’ Association (AGSOSA) has strengthened infrastructure at its alma mater with the installation of a 10KVA, 48V solar inverter system powered by a 15KWh lithium battery.
The project was formally presented to the National Executive of AGSOSA on Thursday, September 17, 2026, as part of activities marking the 30th anniversary of the set’s graduation from the school.
Leading the delegation of the 1996 Set was Mr. John Aderinto, the set’s Senior Prefect, who represented the President of the 1996 Set, Pastor Kunle Oladeji. Aderinto was accompanied by fellow members of the 1996 Set, Mr. Ayandoye Areo, Mrs. Aderonke Abidoye, Mr. Ademola Adeyemo and Mrs. Julianah Adisa.
The presentation underscored the enduring bond between the old students and their alma mater, as members of the 1996 Set returned 30 years after leaving the school to contribute meaningfully to its development.
Receiving the project on behalf of the AGSOSA National Executive, the National President, Prof. Olugbenga Bello, appreciated the 1996 Set for remembering their alma mater and investing in an initiative that would directly benefit students and staff.
Prof. Bello also urged the school management to ensure effective utilisation of the facility and give it proper and regular maintenance to maximise its lifespan and efficiency.
Following the presentation, the National Executive commissioned the solar power system and formally handed it over to the School Principal, Mr. Abiodun Olowe, for use.
The newly installed system has the capacity to supply power to the school’s mini ICT Centre, Administrative Block and lighting facilities at the School Hall, providing a more reliable source of electricity for essential academic and administrative activities.
The initiative represented another demonstration of the growing culture of giving back among old students, with the 1996 Set using its 30th anniversary milestone not only to celebrate its journey but also to make a lasting contribution to the institution that shaped its members.
The AGSOSA family expressed appreciation to the entire 1996 Set, particularly the officials who coordinated the project, for their commitment, generosity and dedication to the continued development of their alma mater.
