Akpabio Celebrates Shettima at 60, Hails Resilience, Patriotism and Service to Nigeria

President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, has congratulated Vice President Kashim Shettima on his birthday, describing him as an accomplished public servant, steadfast patriot and patriotic Nigerian whose career has been marked by courage, resilience and dedication to national service.

Akpabio, in a birthday message, said Shettima’s journey from Commissioner to Governor, Senator and now Vice President of Nigeria reflected a life committed to public service and the advancement of the country.

He particularly recalled Shettima’s tenure as Governor of Borno State during one of the most challenging periods in the state’s history, noting that he remained at his duty post despite the security challenges posed by terrorism.

According to him, Shettima demonstrated leadership in the face of danger and showed that adversity should not be allowed to extinguish hope among the people.

The Senate President said the Vice President had brought the same resilience, experience and patriotic commitment to his current role at the federal level.

He also commended Shettima’s partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressed that unity of purpose at the highest level of government was critical to confronting Nigeria’s challenges and laying the foundation for a prosperous future.

“On this special day, I celebrate not merely the addition of another year to your life, but the years you have invested in the service of our fatherland,” Akpabio said.

He wished the Vice President many more years of good health, wisdom, strength and fulfilment, while praying that God would continue to guide and strengthen him in his service to Nigeria.

Akpabio further expressed hope that the years ahead would bring Nigeria closer to becoming a nation at peace with itself, confident in its diversity, prosperous in its economy and respected among the comity of nations.

“Happy Birthday, Mr Vice President. May God bless you, and may God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the Senate President added.
