Akwa Ibom PDP, APC, Others Endorse Tinubu, Akpabio, Eno for 2027

The 2027 re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno received a major boost on Saturday as stakeholders across major political parties in the state endorsed the trio for another term in office.

The endorsement was made at a meeting of critical stakeholders from the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, where members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other political groups unanimously backed the three political leaders.

Rising from the meeting, the stakeholders adopted a communique endorsing Tinubu for a second term as President, Akpabio for another term as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District and Eno for a second term as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

The communique, read by the Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, Hon. Unyime Idem, followed a motion moved by Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien and seconded by Hon. Iboro Ekanem.

The stakeholders said their decision followed a review of the political situation in the state and an assessment of the contributions and performances of the three leaders.

Reacting to the endorsement, Senate President Akpabio described it as a reflection of the prevailing atmosphere of peace and political unity in Akwa Ibom State.

According to him, the development showed that opposition parties in the state were prepared to support President Tinubu’s administration and work together ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We are very happy for this grand endorsement of Mr President, myself and our governor. It shows that there is unity in this state, particularly in Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District,” Akpabio said.

He expressed confidence that the district would deliver overwhelming support for Tinubu, Eno and himself during the 2027 elections.

Akpabio also called for continued peaceful coexistence among political actors, urging those who may have had disagreements during previous political contests to forgive one another and work together.

Among the prominent stakeholders at the meeting were former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Don Etiebet; retired Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Udom Ekpoudom; Senators Aloysius Etuk, Emmanuel Ibokessien and Chris Ekpenyong, as well as other political leaders and stakeholders.

They pledged their support for the re-election of Tinubu, Akpabio and Eno, setting the stage for what could become a major cross-party mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
