The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has recorded its highest-ever single-day revenue collection, generating ₦28.102 billion within 24 hours on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
The feat was disclosed in a statement issued by Chief Superintendent of Customs, Isah Sulaiman, Customs Public Relations Officer, Apapa Area Command, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba.
According to Sulaiman, the Command generated ₦28,102,000,914.61, surpassed its previous daily record of ₦20.1 billion achieved in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.
The latest milestone comes barely weeks after the Apapa Area Command recorded an unprecedented ₦323 billion monthly revenue collection in July 2026, further demonstrating the sustained impact of reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and the increasing efficiency of digital Customs processes.
Reacting to the development, Comptroller Oshoba said the achievement was not merely about figures or breaking records, but about the contribution of the Customs Service to Nigeria’s economic development.
He noted that revenue generated by the NCS forms part of government resources deployed to fund critical national priorities, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other public services that directly affect the lives of Nigerians.
Oshoba dedicated the milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, PhD, and the management of the Service for their continued support for modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at making Customs operations more efficient, transparent and business-friendly.
The Customs Area Controller also commended compliant importers, exporters, licensed Customs agents and other stakeholders, as well as patriotic Nigerians who have provided actionable intelligence, for their contributions to the achievement.
He stressed that every compliant transaction contributes to national development, urging stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate trade.
Oshoba noted that a stronger revenue base would give government greater capacity to respond to the needs of citizens, fund development priorities and create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
He, however, cautioned officers and men of the Command against complacency, charging them to regard the new revenue record as a greater responsibility to improve their performance.
The CAC emphasised that revenue generation must go hand in hand with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders. He also directed personnel to resolve legitimate disputes promptly and ensure that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily hinder lawful businesses.
The Apapa Area Command, under the leadership of Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the momentum through enhanced revenue generation, trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger stakeholder collaboration.
The Command maintained that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the capacity of government to deliver on its development priorities and improve the lives of Nigerians.
