The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has commenced a two-week vacation outside the country to rest, reflect and re-strategise ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, the vacation follows an exceptionally demanding first year of Yilwatda’s tenure, marked by extensive party engagements, consultations, travels and strategic activities aimed at strengthening the ruling party.
Since assuming office, Yilwatda has worked with the National Working Committee (NWC), governors, members of the National Assembly, state party structures, elected officials and other stakeholders to build a stronger and more cohesive APC.
The statement said the party, under his leadership, successfully organised and concluded its National Convention, strengthened its internal structures and conducted primary elections at various levels ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It described the vacation as a period of personal rejuvenation and strategic reflection, stressing that it does not constitute disengagement from party affairs.
The APC chairman is expected to use the period to recharge and sharpen his strategic thinking ahead of the 2027 elections, which the party considers critical to the continued implementation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Yilwatda is also expected to put finishing touches to plans for the forthcoming NWC retreat, which will provide an opportunity for the party’s leadership to review its progress, assess emerging challenges and develop strategies for the months ahead.
The statement assured that the chairman’s temporary absence would not affect the operations of the APC, as the NWC would continue to discharge its responsibilities in line with the party’s constitution and established procedures.
Prof. Yilwatda is expected to return to Nigeria at the end of the two-week vacation and resume his official engagements with renewed energy and focus.
