The books, authored by Dr. Saidu Adamu Paiko, focus on crop diseases and pests, two major challenges affecting agricultural productivity and food security in the country.

The publications are titled Applied Plant Pathology and Crop Disease Management in Nigeria: A Practical Manual for Students in Agriculture and Major Crop Pests of Nigeria: Identification, Biology and Integrated Management.

Speaking at the launching of the books on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Haske Luxury, Governor’s Hall, Minna, Niger State, Dabban commended Paiko for contributing practical knowledge to Nigeria’s agricultural research and education sector.

He stressed that effective identification and management of crop diseases and pests were essential to improving agricultural yields, protecting farmers’ investments and strengthening the nation’s food security.

The ARCN boss encouraged students, researchers, extension officers, farmers and other agricultural practitioners to make effective use of the publications as resources for learning, research and improved farming practices.
