Benue APC Stakeholders Rally Behind Alia, Tinubu, Reject ‘Rainbow Coalition’

Concerned stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State have declared support for the re-election of Governor Hyacinth Alia and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections, while cautioning party members against political activities they believe could undermine the unity of the party.

The stakeholders, under the aegis of Concerned Benue APC Stakeholders and Strategic Alliance, made their position known on Thursday at a world press conference addressed by the convener of the group, Dr Dominic Alancha.

Alancha said the APC remained bigger than any individual, leader, aspirant or political group, stressing that personal disagreements should not be allowed to override the collective interest of the party.

He disclosed that he had previously opposed Governor Alia’s re-election bid but had since changed his position after what he described as a reassessment of the broader interest of the APC.

According to him, party members who have grievances against the governor or the leadership should channel such concerns through recognised party organs and established internal mechanisms rather than engage in activities capable of weakening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

Alancha maintained that where credible evidence establishes violations of the APC constitution or its rules, the appropriate authorities should act in accordance with due process, irrespective of the status or influence of those involved.

The group also expressed support for the Alia administration, saying it considers the administration’s record in office sufficient basis for the governor to seek another term.

Similarly, the stakeholders declared their commitment to mobilising support for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The group appealed to APC elders, leaders and members across Benue State to close ranks and resolve their differences through dialogue and established party structures.

Alancha urged the party leadership to uphold the supremacy of the APC constitution and ensure that disciplinary measures, where necessary, are applied fairly and in accordance with due process.

He also called on Governor Alia to remain focused on governance and the implementation of his administration’s programmes, while urging party members to concentrate on mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The stakeholders further appealed to members associated with different political camps to embrace reconciliation, stressing that greater cohesion would be necessary for the APC to prosecute the 2027 elections effectively across the state.

The group consequently announced plans to mobilise across local government areas, wards and communities in support of the APC and the re-election bids of Governor Alia and President Tinubu.

Alancha said the group’s position was that the collective interest of the party must remain paramount, urging all stakeholders to work towards strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
