Customs CG Adeniyi Receives Daily Times Heroes Award for Public Service

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has been honoured with the prestigious Daily Times Heroes Award for his contributions to public service and national development.

Adeniyi received the award on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the THISDAY Dome in Abuja during the centenary celebration of the Daily Times newspaper.

The event brought together prominent personalities from government, business, traditional institutions and other sectors to recognise individuals and organisations whose contributions have supported Nigeria’s development.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Adeniyi described the award as an encouragement to intensify his commitment to public service. He attributed the recognition to the collective efforts of officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service, as well as the cooperation of compliant citizens.

“It’s very good when you do something, and you are recognised; this should be an inspiration to us to do much better,” Adeniyi said.

The Customs boss dedicated the award to personnel of the Service, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices in protecting the nation and supporting economic development.

He said the NCS under his leadership remains committed to strengthening revenue generation, improving trade facilitation and accelerating the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area agreement.

Adeniyi also stressed the importance of greater public compliance with customs regulations, noting that such cooperation would enable the Service to discharge its responsibilities more effectively and contribute further to national development.
