Fifty officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have graduated from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, after successfully completing the three-month Junior Course 25.
The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, 28 August 2026, marked another milestone in the professional development and leadership advancement of the participating officers.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honour, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, charged the graduates to uphold integrity, sound judgment and the national interest in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Adeniyi stressed that contemporary Customs administration requires officers to demonstrate competence, accountability and leadership beyond the traditional responsibility of revenue generation.
He said leadership was not determined solely by rank, but by the ability to demonstrate competence, fairness, courage and responsibility.
“Leadership is not defined solely by the rank that you wear, but is demonstrated through competence, fairness, courage and the responsibility you take,” Adeniyi told the graduates.
The CGC urged the newly trained officers to deploy the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to effectively respond to the increasingly complex operational demands confronting the Service.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the NCCSC, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, commended the graduates for their dedication and commitment throughout the training.
Gaura also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the institution’s capacity, including the deployment of digital learning tools and strategic training partnerships with the Nigerian Army.
The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates to the 50 graduating officers, while three outstanding performers received special awards from the Comptroller-General.
Activities marking the graduation had commenced earlier in the week with a regimental dinner on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.
At the dinner, Deputy Comptroller-General Suleiman Chiroma, who represented the CGC, charged the officers to carry vigilance, professionalism and decisive leadership into their various post-graduation assignments across Customs commands.
The completion of Junior Course 25 is expected to further enhance the leadership and operational capabilities of the officers as they return to their respective formations to contribute to the effective administration of the Nigeria Customs Service.
