Disu Fires Up PMF Trainers, Demands Greater Operational Readiness

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has charged trainers and instructors of the Police Mobile Force (PMF) to raise the standard of tactical competence and ensure that personnel remain operationally ready to confront emerging security challenges.

Disu gave the charge on Friday, August 28, 2026, while formally opening the Training Course for Trainers and Instructors of the Police Mobile Force at the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills, Nasarawa State.

The course brings together selected PMF trainers and instructors from across the country and is aimed at strengthening their instructional capacity, sharpening tactical competence and enhancing the operational readiness of the Force’s 84 PMF Squadrons.

Describing the programme as a strategic intervention in the operational future of the PMF, the IGP stressed that the changing security environment requires continuous learning, adaptation, discipline and tactical competence.

He tasked the participants to become force multipliers by ensuring that the knowledge and skills acquired during the training are effectively transferred to personnel in their respective formations.

According to Disu, the modern PMF must combine tactical capability with intelligence, precision, discipline, professionalism and respect for the law.

He emphasised that operational readiness must be cultivated as a continuous culture, urging the trainers to focus not merely on obtaining certificates but on developing practical competence capable of translating into improved operational performance.

The IGP’s charge was coming as the Nigeria Police Force continue efforts to strengthen the capacity of its tactical formations and improve their response to emerging security threats across the country.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the AIG in charge of the Police Mobile Force, Alonyenu Idu, commended the IGP for his leadership and commitment to repositioning the PMF.

Idu noted that the training would further charge personnel to uphold the glory and operational reputation of the Force’s tactical strike arm.

The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who was briefly present at the ceremony, congratulated the IGP on his leadership and ongoing efforts towards strengthening the Nigeria Police Force.

The event was attended by DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, DIG Operations; DCP Sunday Audu Peter, Commandant of the PMF Training College, Ende-Hills; Commandant Brah Samson Umoru, Nasarawa State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps; and commandants of other PMF training colleges.

The ceremony featured tactical displays and practical demonstrations by personnel undergoing the training, showcasing their skills, discipline and operational capabilities.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to continuous professional training, modernisation, personnel welfare and the provision of necessary tools and platforms to strengthen operational effectiveness.

The Force said the measures are intended to ensure that the Police Mobile Force remains a disciplined, agile and dependable tactical capability in the protection of lives and property across Nigeria.
