Education Ministry Debunks Fake Circular, Confirms September 14 Resumption for Unity Colleges

The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked a fake circular circulating on social media, purporting to announce an additional three-week holiday for students of Federal Unity Colleges across the country.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the ministry said the purported circular did not originate from it and should be completely disregarded by the public.

The ministry reaffirmed that Monday, September 14, 2026, remained the approved resumption date for all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide, stressing that there is no directive extending the holiday or shifting resumption to October 4, 2026.

It explained that the fraudulent document, dated September 8, 2026, and referenced “FME/SS/UNI/2026/128,” falsely bearing the name and signature of Dr. (Mrs.) Aisha Garba as Permanent Secretary.

According to the ministry, its current Acting Permanent Secretary is Dr. Mrs. Folake Olatunji David, making the purported document an unauthorised and fabricated communication.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, assured parents, guardians, students and other stakeholders of the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a safe, orderly and seamless resumption of academic activities.

The ministry urged members of the public to verify information concerning Federal Unity Colleges through its established official communication channels before acting on or sharing such information.

It also cautioned against reproducing or circulating fake official documents, noting that such materials could create unnecessary confusion among parents, students and other stakeholders.

The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to providing accurate, timely and transparent information to the public.
