The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has handed over recovered illicit drugs and arrested suspects to the FCT Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, carried out the handover on Friday, August 21, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in tackling drug-related crimes and other criminal activities across the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the exercise, Sanusi said although the Police Command has the authority to investigate and prosecute drug-related offences, it considered it necessary to maintain strong synergy with sister security and law enforcement agencies, particularly the NDLEA, whose statutory responsibilities include the investigation and prosecution of drug offences.
Receiving the recovered substances and suspects on behalf of the NDLEA FCT Strategic Command, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, ACN Samuel Orji, commended the FCT Commissioner of Police for promoting inter-agency cooperation.
Orji assured that the suspects would undergo proper investigation and be prosecuted in line with extant laws.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with security agencies and other relevant stakeholders to safeguard lives and property within the nation’s capital.
The Command also urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons and activities to the nearest police station or through its emergency lines: 0803 200 3913 and 0806 158 1938.
