Fire Service, Customs Sign MoU to Boost Fire Safety Nationwide

The Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening fire safety and emergency preparedness across Customs facilities nationwide.

The agreement was signed on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Nigeria Customs Service Headquarters in Abuja during a working visit by the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi.

Under the agreement, fire stations and other fire safety measures will be established across Customs facilities to enhance the protection of personnel, infrastructure and other critical assets.

Speaking on the partnership, CGF Adeyemi described the MoU as an important step towards strengthening fire prevention and ensuring prompt response to fire emergencies within Customs formations across the country.

He urged Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as other public institutions, to prioritise fire safety and collaborate with the Federal Fire Service to safeguard lives, assets and critical national infrastructure.

The Federal Fire Service said the partnership would further deepen inter-agency cooperation and promote proactive fire prevention measures in government facilities nationwide.
