The Government of The Gambia is exploring a potential partnership with Galaxy Backbone (GBB) to develop digital infrastructure and strengthen the country’s digital service delivery capabilities.
The development followed a study tour by a Gambian government delegation to Galaxy Backbone’s facilities, where the team gained firsthand insight into the infrastructure and systems supporting secure, reliable and resilient digital services for government and businesses in Nigeria.
During the visit, the delegation toured GBB’s Tier III Data Centre, Network Operations Centre (NOC) and Security Operations Centre (SOC), providing them with an opportunity to examine the organisation’s digital infrastructure, network operations and cybersecurity capabilities.
Impressed by the facilities and capabilities demonstrated, the delegation expressed interest in exploring areas of collaboration with Galaxy Backbone and the Government of The Gambia towards developing similar digital infrastructure and strengthening digital capabilities in the country.
The delegation was received by Galaxy Backbone’s Executive Director, Finance & Corporate Services, Mohammed Sani Ibrahim, who led the engagement and provided insights into the organisation’s operations and infrastructure.
The study tour was facilitated by the Bureau of Public Service Reforms (BPSR), one of Galaxy Backbone’s key stakeholders, as part of efforts to promote institutional learning, knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices.
The visit further highlighted the growing importance of collaboration among African countries in advancing digital transformation and developing sustainable digital infrastructure.
Galaxy Backbone’s experience in providing secure and reliable digital infrastructure for government and businesses offers opportunities for knowledge transfer and partnerships aimed at strengthening Africa’s digital ecosystem.
The engagement underscored the potential for African countries to share experiences, replicate successful models and work together in building a more connected and digitally enabled continent.
