The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Monday honoured 10 personnel of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) who were killed in a fierce encounter with suspected bandits in Kebbi State, declaring that their sacrifice would not be in vain.

He urged Nigerians to remember the fallen officers and thousands of other police personnel who continue to put their lives on the line in the service of the nation.
The IGP further assured Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force remained resolute in its constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property, stressing that the Force would continue to work with the Nigeria military, sister security agencies, state governments and communities to confront banditry, terrorism and other forms of violent criminality.
“We shall not be intimidated, we shall not relent, and we shall not allow the sacrifices of our fallen heroes to be in vain,” Disu declared.
He said the Force would continue to pursue criminal elements, disrupt their activities and ensure that those responsible for attacks on security personnel and innocent citizens were brought to justice.
Disu called on officers and personnel to draw renewed strength from the courage of their fallen colleagues as the Force continues its efforts to restore and sustain peace and security across the country.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased officers and for strength for their families to bear the loss.
