The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to rescuing all victims abducted by bandits in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.
Disu gave the assurance when he visited the Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, at the Government House, Minna, on Saturday.
The IGP assured Nigerlites and families of the kidnapped victims that the Police Force was working tirelessly to secure the release of their loved ones, stressing that significant progress was being made in the ongoing rescue efforts.
He said the police was collaborating closely with other security agencies through intelligence sharing and regular strategic meetings aimed at achieving the safe rescue of the victims.
Disu also commended Governor Bago for his cooperation and continued support for the Niger State Police Command, noting that such collaboration was contributing to efforts to tackle insecurity in the state.
Responding, Governor Bago, who was represented by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, appreciated the IGP for the visit and the prompt actions taken towards rescuing the abducted victims.
The governor also commended President Bola Tinubu for his timely intervention and directive to the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to intensify operations aimed at securing the release of the victims.
Bago further advocated the deployment of a non-kinetic approach as a complementary strategy to ongoing kinetic operations in addressing the persistent challenges of banditry and other terrorist activities in the state.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies in their efforts to curb criminal activities and restore lasting peace across Niger State.
The governor also praised the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, for his efforts in addressing security challenges, particularly his role in reducing the activities of miscreants in the state.
The visit comes amid intensified security efforts to rescue the victims abducted in Borgu Local Government Area and restore confidence among affected communities and families.
