INEC Presents Certificate of Return to Adeleke, Deputy After Osun Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has presented Certificates of Return to Osun State Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, formally confirming their re-election for a second term.

The presentation took place on Wednesday at the INEC headquarters in Osogbo, following Adeleke’s victory in the August 15 governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared winner of the closely contested poll after securing 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes.

According to INEC Returning Officer for the election, Joshua Ogunwole, Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in the remaining 11 LGAs.

Receiving the Certificate of Return, Adeleke thanked INEC, security agencies and the people of Osun State for their roles in ensuring a peaceful and credible election.

He also commended residents for exercising their civic responsibility and maintaining peace throughout the electoral process.

The presentation of the certificates mark the formal conclusion of the electoral process and pave the way for Adeleke and Adewusi to continue in office for another four-year term.
