Interior Permanent Secretary Tasks PITT Members on AI-Driven Productivity, Data-Based Reporting

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, has charged members of the Project Implementation Task Team (PITT) to translate the knowledge acquired from their five-day Artificial Intelligence training into improved productivity, research, reporting and professional performance.

Dr. Ajani gave the charge at the close of the intensive “AI Zero to Hero” training programme organised for PITT members at Digital Bridge, Utako, Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary said the real value of the training went beyond the completion of assignments or receipt of certificates, urging participants to demonstrate its impact through evidence-based reports, analytical assessments and research relevant to their responsibilities.

According to her, the officers, having been equipped with relevant digital and Artificial Intelligence tools, were now better positioned to independently conduct research, analyse activities and identify opportunities for improvement within their respective departments and PITT sub-committees.

She urged the participants to take greater initiative in their areas of responsibility rather than waiting for instructions before undertaking constructive research and analysis on issues relevant to their work.

Dr. Ajani said the ultimate objective of the training was to translate knowledge into measurable improvements in productivity, efficiency and service delivery across the Ministry.

She also encouraged the trainees to share their newly acquired knowledge with colleagues, noting that continuous knowledge transfer would expand the pool of public servants capable of effectively deploying emerging technologies in government.

While acknowledging the importance of the five-day programme, the Permanent Secretary cautioned participants against regarding the training as the end of their learning journey.

She encouraged them to continue developing their digital capabilities, exploring new AI applications and improving their proficiency in the use of emerging digital tools.

Dr. Ajani further highlighted the long-term professional value of acquiring digital competencies, noting that the knowledge and skills gained could remain valuable to officers both during and beyond their public service careers.

She urged the participants to distinguish themselves through competence, professionalism, initiative and readiness to undertake meaningful assignments, stressing that professional reputation is built over time through the quality and impact of work delivered.

The Permanent Secretary commended the organisers, facilitators, Zimedy Services and the participants for their commitment to the programme.

She directed the trainees to complete their assignments and, more importantly, demonstrate the practical impact of the knowledge acquired through their work.

Dr. Ajani expressed confidence that the training would contribute to strengthening innovation, productivity and evidence-based decision-making within the Ministry of Interior.
