NAF Airpower Strikes Fear Into Bandits as Radda Hails Aircraft as North-West’s Most Feared Weapon

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has described Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft as among the most feared weapons by terrorists and bandits operating across the North-West.

Radda made the remark on Thursday, August 20, 2026, when the Chief of Operations, NAF, Air Vice Marshal PN Amadi, paid an operational visit to the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY) Sector 2 in Katsina.

The governor commended the NAF for its sustained sacrifices and contributions to the fight against insecurity, particularly its ability to project decisive airpower into difficult and inaccessible areas being exploited by terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements.

He assured the Service of the continued support of the Katsina State Government to ongoing air and ground operations aimed at restoring peace and security across the state.

During the visit, Air Vice Marshal Amadi reaffirmed the NAF’s determination to sustain intensified air operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements in Katsina and the wider North-West.

He stressed that effective collaboration among the Armed Forces, other security agencies, government authorities and local communities remained critical to achieving lasting peace and security.

Amadi also underscored the importance of sustained operational readiness and coordinated efforts in degrading criminal networks and denying terrorists and bandits the freedom to operate.

The visit was also in line with the strategic priorities of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, particularly his commitment to the welfare, readiness and effectiveness of frontline personnel.

The NAF leadership, according to the Service, remains focused on sustaining decisive airpower effects against criminal elements while strengthening the capacity of personnel deployed in frontline operations.

The Chief of Operations was accompanied by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal EK Gabkwet. They were received by the Air Component Commander, OPFY Sector 2, Air Commodore CE Illoh.
