NAF, NIGCOMSAT Deepen Partnership on Space-Based Security Capabilities

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) are strengthening collaboration in satellite communications and space-based technologies to enhance Nigeria’s national security capabilities.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, paid a follow-up visit to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force in Abuja.

The engagement provided an opportunity for NIGCOMSAT to brief the NAF leadership on progress and key milestones recorded in the ongoing implementation of satellite systems supporting NAF operations.

Discussions also focused on expanding areas of cooperation in satellite communications, space-based capabilities and emerging technologies that could further enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Air Force.

The two organisations reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging indigenous expertise, innovation and strategic partnerships to develop capabilities that would support Nigeria’s defence and national security objectives.

The collaboration underscored the growing importance of space-based technologies in modern security operations, particularly in communications, intelligence, surveillance and other strategic areas.

Both NAF and NIGCOMSAT are expected to continue exploring opportunities for deeper cooperation in the development and deployment of innovative satellite solutions in support of Nigeria’s security architecture.
