Nami Reconnects Niger Community to National Grid After Two Years in Darkness

There was jubilation in Zanchita community, Gbako Local Government Area of Niger State, as former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Dr Mohammed Nami, reconnected the community to the national electricity grid after two years of darkness.

The intervention followed the provision and installation of a brand-new transformer for the community as part of Nami’s humanitarian initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic wellbeing of rural communities across Niger State.

Residents, particularly youths of the community, expressed relief over the restoration of electricity, while lamenting that the damaged transformer serving the area had been taken away by government officials about two years ago and was never replaced.

They also raised concerns over the dilapidated condition of the community’s only primary school, which they said had remained in poor condition for more than five years without government intervention.

The residents expressed disappointment over what they described as the failure of relevant government officials and elected representatives at both state and federal levels to respond to their appeals despite several requests.

They, however, commended Nami for responding to their plight and pledged their support for his political aspiration.

Presenting the new transformer to the community on behalf of the PDP governorship candidate, Dr Mohammed Shaba, popularly known as Psychology, said the intervention was part of Nami’s humanitarian efforts to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural dwellers.

Shaba said the initiative was being implemented through the Niger South Foundation under the chairmanship of Nami, who, he noted, had consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare of disadvantaged communities.

He urged the people of Zanchita to reciprocate the gesture by continuing to pray for Nami for divine guidance and protection as he pursues his ambition to govern the state.

According to him, victory at the polls would provide Nami with a broader opportunity to extend similar interventions to more rural communities across Niger State.

Responding, the Village Head of Zanchita, Ahmadu Mohammed Zanchita, expressed appreciation to Nami for fulfilling his pledge to the community.

He prayed for God’s continued protection and blessings upon the former FIRS chairman, saying such interventions would provide much-needed succour to rural dwellers.
