The Niger State Judiciary has announced a week-long programme of activities to formally commence the 2026/2027 Legal Year, with a series of engagements aimed at strengthening justice delivery and cooperation between the Bar and the Bench.

The Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Niger State, Amina L. Musa-Saidu, disclosed this in a statement outlining activities scheduled for the new Legal Year.

Musa-Saidu said the commencement of the new Legal Year would provide the Judiciary with an opportunity to reflect on its achievements and challenges in the preceding year, renew its commitment to justice delivery and establish priorities for the year ahead.

According to her, the programme is also designed to promote stronger engagement between lawyers and judges while enhancing cooperation among stakeholders in the administration of justice.

The activities will commence on Thursday, October 8, with a Bar-Bench Forum at the Foyer of the High Court of Justice Complex, Minna, at 10:00 a.m. The forum will provide an avenue for members of the legal profession and the Judiciary to deliberate on issues affecting justice administration, professional conduct and court practice.

A Special Jumma’at Prayer will follow on Friday, October 9, at 1:30 p.m. at the Central Mosque, Minna, as members of the Judiciary and the legal profession give thanks for the achievements of the previous Legal Year and seek divine guidance and blessings for the new year.

On Saturday, October 10, a Magistrates’ Workshop will hold at 9:00 a.m. at the High Court Complex. The workshop, organised by the Education and Training Committee of the High Court, is expected to enhance the professional knowledge and capacity of Magistrates.

The programme will continue on Sunday, October 11, with a Special Thanksgiving Service at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. Peter, adjacent to General Hospital, Keteren Gwari, Minna.

A Chief Judge’s Dinner and Award Presentation will also take place at 7:00 p.m. the same day at the High Court Complex.

She reaffirmed the commitment of the Niger State Judiciary to improving efficiency and professionalism, strengthening access to justice, and upholding the independence, integrity and dignity of the judicial process.
