Nigeria’s Ambassador to Hungary, Ambassador (Engr.) Abass Braimah Ogwime, has been selected among African ambassadors accredited to Hungary to officially commission the newly established Hungarian-African House in Budapest.

The commissioning ceremony, held in Budapest on October 2, 2026, brought together members of the diplomatic community, representatives of the Hungarian Government, African heads of mission, business leaders, investors, members of the African diaspora and other stakeholders committed to strengthening relations between Hungary and Africa.

Ambassador Ogwime, who also serves as Nigeria’s ambassador to Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia, was the guest speaker at the opening ceremony.

The Hungarian-African House, known locally as Magyar-Afrika Ház, is an initiative of the Foundation for Africa aimed at providing a permanent platform for dialogue, business engagement, cultural exchange and cooperation between Hungary and African countries.

The facility is expected to serve as a meeting point for Hungarian and African businesses, government institutions, investors, academics and other stakeholders to build partnerships, explore investment opportunities and develop practical areas of collaboration.

Its establishment is also expected to create opportunities for stronger institutional and business connections, while promoting cultural understanding and mutually beneficial engagements between Hungary and African nations.

The Embassy of Nigeria in Budapest reaffirmed its commitment to advancing diplomacy, international partnerships and shared prosperity. It also reiterated its support for initiatives that bring Nigerian, African and Hungarian institutions, businesses and communities together for mutually beneficial cooperation.
