The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in the United Kingdom to October 30, 2026, following sustained demand and a high turnout by Nigerians seeking passport services.
The extension, which takes effect from October 6, was approved following a directive by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to enable more Nigerians in the UK to benefit from the intervention.
The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, disclosed this in a public announcement issued by the NIS Headquarters, Abuja, on Friday.
According to the Service, the intervention will be conducted at designated centres in London, Manchester and Aberdeen, while the venue for the Cardiff centre will be announced in a subsequent public notice.
The London venue is 56-57 Fleet Street, Temple, London EC4Y 1JU; Manchester applicants will be attended to at Nigerian House, 23 Platt Lane, Manchester M14 5NE; while the Aberdeen exercise will hold at Hilton Convention Centre, 13 Smithfield Road, Aberdeen, AB24 4NR.
The NIS urged Nigerian communities across the UK to take advantage of the extended exercise to renew their passports and stressed that applicants must book appointments ahead of their scheduled dates.
Appointments can be made through the designated intervention booking platform or via the Nigeria High Commission’s website. Applicants were advised to strictly adhere to their assigned dates and times to ensure an orderly process and minimise delays.
The Service also reminded eligible Nigerians that the Contactless Passport Application System remains operational, allowing applicants to renew their passports without visiting a Nigerian embassy, high commission or consulate.
Applicants attending the intervention centres are required to present a completed application form, payment slips as proof of payment, intervention appointment printout, a self-addressed return envelope and, in renewal cases, their current passport.
The NIS emphasised that cash payments will not be accepted at the venues.
For enquiries, applicants can contact the Service via [email protected] or WhatsApp on +234 916 087 8000.
The Service said the extension form part of its commitment to providing efficient, transparent and responsive passport services to Nigerians in the country and in the diaspora.
