The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the Repatriation and Departure Service (R&DS) of the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Kingdom of the Netherlands have reinforced their longstanding partnership with the donation of specialised equipment to the NIS Hostmanship Unit.
The equipment was presented during a ceremony at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja on Monday as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional capacity, improve migration management, and promote service excellence.
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Service, the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap, described the donation as another milestone in the more than two decades of collaboration between the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
She said the equipment represented a strategic investment in professionalism, institutional excellence, and the promotion of the Hostmanship philosophy, which encouraged officers to make every individual feel welcomed, respected, and valued at every point of contact.
According to the Comptroller-General, the donation will significantly enhance the training capacity and operational efficiency of the Hostmanship Unit while supporting the institutionalisation of customer-focused service delivery across the Service.
Also speaking, the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Abuja, Mr Ronald Sonnemans, described the partnership with the Nigeria Immigration Service as a model of sustained international cooperation.
He reaffirmed the Netherlands’ commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at strengthening migration management and building institutional capacity in Nigeria.
The collaboration between the two institutions has led to the training of hundreds of Nigeria Immigration Service officers, the establishment of a dedicated Hostmanship Unit, and sustained capacity-building under the European Union-funded Capacity Building and Relationship Management (CBR) Project.
The latest donation, according to both parties, reflects their shared commitment to innovation, knowledge sharing, strategic partnership, and improved service delivery capable of inspiring greater public confidence and trust.
The Nigeria Immigration Service expressed appreciation to the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, particularly the Repatriation and Departure Service, for its continued support of the Service’s reform agenda.
The Service also reaffirmed its commitment to the responsible use of the donated equipment and the promotion of Hostmanship ideals in delivering quality immigration services to the public.
