NYSC DG Demands Error-Free Mobilisation, Stronger Data Integrity

The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has tasked stakeholders involved in the mobilisation of Nigerian graduates to ensure an error-free, transparent and credible process.

Nafiu gave the charge in Abuja at the opening ceremony of the 2026 NYSC Batch ‘C’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop, stressing the need for stakeholders to take ownership of their responsibilities and strictly adhere to approved procedures.

The workshop, themed “Strengthening Institutional Accountability, Data Integrity and Digital Innovation for Seamless NYSC Mobilisation,” brought into focus the need for stronger institutional accountability, accurate data and greater use of technology in the mobilisation process.

The NYSC DG said expectations for efficient, transparent and technology-driven public service delivery were exceptionally high, adding that the Scheme would continue to strengthen its systems to ensure that every eligible graduate was mobilised in a credible, transparent and timely manner.

He warned that inaccurate records, unauthorised alterations of data, delayed responses and failure to meet established timelines could adversely affect the mobilisation of graduates and undermine the credibility of the Scheme.

Nafiu urged institutions and officers involved in the process to improve their digital competence and cybersecurity awareness, protect institutional databases and embrace responsible innovation.

He declared that the NYSC must remain intolerant of negligence, manipulation of records, abuse of process and other practices capable of compromising the integrity of the organisation.

The NYSC boss also stressed the importance of strengthening internal quality assurance mechanisms before data is transmitted to the Scheme, noting that the credibility of mobilisation depends largely on the accuracy, completeness and authenticity of information received from Corps-producing institutions and other stakeholders.

According to him, technology must be leveraged to simplify processes, eliminate bottlenecks, reduce turnaround time and improve the experience of every prospective Corps Member.

Nafiu described NYSC mobilisation as a shared responsibility, saying no single institution could achieve seamless mobilisation in isolation. He therefore called for stronger information sharing, open communication and prompt escalation of anomalies.

“Our partnership must be founded on trust, professionalism and shared responsibility, recognising that weakness in one part of the system can affect the entire mobilisation value chain,” he said.

Also speaking, the Director, Corps Mobilisation Department, Mrs. Rachel Idaewor, urged stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with the approved mobilisation timeline as preparations for the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course gather momentum.

Idaewor called for improved verification of graduates’ data before submission, stronger institutional controls to minimise errors and measures to prevent fraudulent practices.

She further advocated the deployment of technology to automate routine processes, stressing that such innovation must be accompanied by appropriate oversight and implemented in line with applicable national regulations and global best practices.
