The Nigeria Police Force has recorded fresh operational successes across nine states, including the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators, the recovery of firearms, the dismantled of an illegal weapons manufacturing facility and the activation of rescue operations for abducted victims.

The Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, disclosed this in the State-by-State Executive Summary of police operational successes for August 24, 2026.

In Imo State, operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested three suspected terrorist collaborators, including the alleged owner of a terrorist camp. Two AK rifles were recovered from the suspects, comprising an AK-49 allegedly linked to the murder of a Homeland Security Guard and an AK-47 reportedly snatched from Agwa Police Station during the 2022 attack.

The suspects are currently in custody, while investigators at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Owerri, are working to unravel the wider terrorist network.

In Taraba State, police operatives acting on credible intelligence arrested a 50-year-old man allegedly involved in the manufacture of illegal firearms and sophisticated weapons. Four locally made Dane guns and two single-barrel guns, alongside firearms manufacturing tools, were recovered.

Police said the suspect has been cooperating with investigators and providing information on arms buyers as efforts continue to recover more weapons and arrest other members of the network.

In Plateau State, security personnel repelled an attack on Tanjol Village in Riyom Local Government Area, forcing the assailants to flee into the surrounding forest. A joint search-and-rescue operation subsequently located two injured security personnel, who were evacuated to a hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Bauchi State, police arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man during a fight in Bauchi metropolis. The knife allegedly used in the incident was recovered as an exhibit.

Police in Gombe State also arrested a suspect over the alleged culpable homicide of a 16-year-old victim in Gudukku District, Nafada LGA. The victim reportedly sustained a serious head injury during a disagreement and later died.

In Ogun State, operatives responded swiftly to a reported cult-related attack and threats at Kajola, Ikenne. One suspected attacker was arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing suspects.

The Force also reported ongoing rescue operations following separate abductions in Gombe and Bauchi states.

In Gombe, tactical teams, hunters and local vigilantes were mobilised following the abduction of a 60-year-old man from his residence in Layi Village, Dukku LGA. Search operations are continuing to secure his release and apprehend the perpetrators.

Similarly, in Bauchi, police patrol teams, professional hunters and vigilantes were deployed to the Gwamnare Forest axis following the abduction of three persons. Efforts are ongoing to locate the victims and arrest their abductors.

In Niger State, police responded to a mob action in Nasko following the death of two suspected thieves who were allegedly attempting to dispossess an Okada rider of his motorcycle.

The remains of the deceased were recovered and deposited at the General Hospital, Nasko, while investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify persons involved in the mob action.

The Nigeria Police Force said investigations into the various incidents are ongoing across the affected states, with the respective State Criminal Investigation Departments handling the cases.
