The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed the safe rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Okon Placid, disclosed this in a statement issued from Force Headquarters, Abuja, on June 6, 2026, noting that the victims were rescued at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).
According to the police spokesman, Mrs. Adegoke and her children were abducted while she was driving them to school at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026. He explained that sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations enabled investigators to track the kidnappers’ movements and successfully locate them.
During the ensuing confrontation with FID-IRT operatives, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded, while two rifles were recovered from the scene. The victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed in safe custody, where they are receiving medical attention and support.
The Inspector-General of Police commended the operatives involved for their courage, professionalism, and effective execution of the rescue mission, describing the outcome as a testament to the Force’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and public safety.
Security operations have since been intensified in the area to track and arrest fleeing members of the kidnapping syndicate. Preliminary intelligence indicates that some suspects escaped with gunshot injuries, while efforts are ongoing to dismantle the criminal network and bring all those involved to justice.
The Police also appreciated members of the public for their cooperation, patience, and support throughout the operation, reaffirming its commitment to combating violent crime and ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians.
