Galaxy Backbone (GBB) Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening digital trust and supporting Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda following the signing of the National Sovereign Cloud Regulatory Instrument, a landmark framework designed to enhance the country’s cloud governance, data sovereignty and cybersecurity.
The signing ceremony, held at the headquarters of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in Abuja, brought together key stakeholders from the nation’s digital ecosystem to formally endorse the regulatory instrument.
Representing Galaxy Backbone at the event, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, joined the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Engr. Nadungu Gagare, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, CCIE, and other distinguished stakeholders.
The National Sovereign Cloud Regulatory Instrument establishes Nigeria’s national guidelines and governance framework for cloud adoption, cloud services and supporting digital infrastructure. It provides a unified framework for cloud governance by setting clear requirements for data classification, data sovereignty, cloud security, risk management and investment promotion.
Galaxy Backbone described the initiative as a major milestone in Nigeria’s journey toward building a trusted, secure and resilient digital economy.
As the Federal Government’s provider of shared digital infrastructure and services, the organisation reiterated its commitment to supporting the implementation of policies and technologies that strengthen digital trust, safeguard national data assets and accelerate Nigeria’s digital transformation.
According to the organisation, the new regulatory framework will foster a more secure cloud ecosystem, encourage investment in digital infrastructure and reinforce public confidence in the management of critical government data.
Galaxy Backbone added that it would continue collaborating with government institutions and industry stakeholders to drive innovation and build the secure digital foundation required for a smarter, more connected and globally competitive Nigeria.
