Speaking during the conference’s Topical Issues Workshop, Senior Business Advisor to the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Limited, Lawal Musa, delivered a presentation on the theme, “The Expanding Role of Independents in Nigeria’s Upstream: Reimagining Ownership, Operations and Financing.”
Musa examined the changing dynamics of Nigeria’s upstream petroleum industry, focusing on the growing participation of indigenous independent operators in the ownership and management of producing assets.
He highlighted key issues surrounding ownership structures, operatorship and financing, noting that NNPC Limited remains strategically positioned as both a joint venture partner and operator in supporting the sector’s transformation.
The discussions underscored the importance of collaboration, innovation and investment in strengthening Nigeria’s oil and gas industry while enhancing indigenous participation and operational efficiency.
