FG lifts Ban on Registration Of New SIMs

The Federal Government has lifted the ban on new Subscribers Identification Module (SIMs) card registration, and fixed Monday, April 19, 2021 as the effective date for implementation. It however placed NIN registration as mandatory for registering new SIM cards. The development was contained in revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration approved by President Muhammadu Buhari. Minister directs NCC to commence SIM Registration Database audit

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy,Dr.Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has directed the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to embark on another audit of the Subscriber Registration Database again. The order was in line with the Federal Government desire to consolidate the achievement of the SIM Card registration exercise of September, 2019.
