TCN Announces 20-Minute Power Interruption in Suleja, Zuba, Others for Maintenance

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned 20-minute interruption of electricity supply to some areas within and around Suleja, as part of an annual preventive maintenance exercise at the Suleja Transmission Substation.

According to a notice issued by TCN Management on Friday, the maintenance is scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, between 1:00pm and 4:00pm.
The exercise will cover the Gwarinpa–Suleja 132/33kV Line 2 bay switchgears and associated equipment at the transmission substation.
TCN said the planned interruption will affect customers supplied by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in Suleja Township, FCT College of Education, Field Base, Zuba, Sabon Wuse and adjoining areas.

The company explained that the brief outage is necessary to enable the transfer of load from the Gwarinpa–Suleja Line 2 to the Kubwa–Suleja Line 1, allowing the maintenance work to be carried out without subjecting consumers in the affected areas to a prolonged power outage.

TCN assured electricity consumers that the interruption is temporary and specifically required to facilitate the preventive maintenance of the transmission facilities.
The company apologised to consumers in the affected areas for any inconvenience the exercise may cause.
