The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a five-hour power interruption in Bida and several communities in Niger State as part of its annual preventive maintenance programme at the Bida 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The maintenance exercise is scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2026, between 8am and 1pm, according to a statement issued by TCN Management.
The company said its technical crew would carry out preventive maintenance on a 60MVA 132/33kV transformer and associated switchgear at the transmission substation.
TCN explained that the exercise would temporarily affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to off-take electricity to customers in the affected areas.
Communities expected to experience the interruption include Bida Town, Army Barracks, Agaie, Doko, Baro, Zago, Emi Rani, Bussu, Laugba Goshigi, Lafiyagi Essa, Amgulu, Mansantali, Agaie Town, Low Cost and Masaga, as well as surrounding villages.
The transmission company said electricity supply would be restored to the affected communities immediately after the completion of the maintenance work.
TCN apologised to electricity customers in the affected areas for the inconvenience occasioned by the planned maintenance, stressing that the exercise was necessary to ensure the reliability of the transmission infrastructure.
