The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a two-hour power outage in Gwagwalada, Abuja, on Monday, October 5, 2026, to enable urgent maintenance work at its 132/33kV transmission substation.
In a notice issued on Sunday, October 4, TCN said the maintenance exercise would take place between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.
According to the company, the exercise will enable its maintenance crew to connect an earthing reactor to a 60MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Gwagwalada Transmission Substation.
TCN explained that the scheduled work would temporarily affect power supply to customers in Watson Door, Gwagwalada, and adjoining areas, as the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) would be unable to offtake electricity during the two-hour maintenance period.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the exercise might cause.
TCN said the maintenance was necessary to facilitate the connection of the earthing reactor to the transformer.
