TCN Announces Urgent Katampe Substation Maintenance, Warns of Power Disruption

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an urgent maintenance operation at the 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja, warned electricity consumers of a temporary disruption in supply.

According to TCN, the maintenance, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026, was necessary to enable its maintenance crew to seal an oil leakage from one of the transformers at the substation.

The exercise commenced at 10 a.m. and was expected to end at 7 p.m., during which some transmission circuits would be affected.

TCN explained that the disruption would prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) from taking electricity from some feeders supplied by the affected transformer.

The company therefore urged electricity consumers in the affected areas to bear with the situation, noting that the interruption was temporary and necessary to ensure the reliability and safety of the transmission infrastructure.

“TCN apologises for any inconvenience this temporary interruption may cause electricity consumers in the affected areas,” the company said in a statement signed by its management.

The maintenance is part of TCN’s efforts to address faults on its transmission facilities and maintain stable electricity supply across the affected areas.
