The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced rehabilitation of four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP–Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
The affected towers, identified as T50 to T53, were discovered vandalised on August 6, 2026, by TCN lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region, after their tower members had been removed and carted away.
As rehabilitation work progresses, TCN has called on stakeholders and members of the public to join hands with relevant authorities to curb the menace of infrastructure vandalism, which continues to threaten the stability and reliability of Nigeria’s national electricity grid.
The company said the incident marked the fifth vandalism attack on the same transmission line in recent times, underscoring the persistent threat posed by the activities of vandals to critical power infrastructure.
TCN said rehabilitation work is ongoing to restore the affected towers and safeguard the integrity of the transmission line.
The company urged all stakeholders to remain vigilant and support efforts to protect transmission infrastructure from further attacks as rehabilitation work continues.
