The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commenced repair work on a faulty 33kV NIPP feeder at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation in Abuja, following a technical fault that has disrupted electricity supply to parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
The company said its maintenance crew is working to rectify the fault and restore bulk power supply to the affected areas as soon as repairs are completed.
According to TCN, the feeder initially tripped at 9:39am on Sunday, September 20, 2026, following an earth fault. The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) subsequently deployed its maintenance team to patrol the feeder, after which it was certified fit for restoration.
However, when an attempt was made to restore the feeder at 6:34pm the same day, it tripped again, this time on overcurrent and earth fault.
The incident resulted in the shattering of the blue-phase interrupter head of the feeder circuit breaker, preventing AEDC from taking bulk electricity supply for customers in FO1, Dantata Estate, Byazhin, Byazhin Across and Gbazango.
TCN said repairs to the damaged breaker are currently ongoing, assuring residents and electricity consumers in the affected areas that power supply would be restored immediately the repair work is completed.
The transmission company apologised for the inconvenience caused by the outage and expressed its commitment to completing the restoration work as quickly as possible.
