TCN, Imcomtel Step Up Katsina 330kV Substation Project Ahead of Major Installation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and Imcomtel Engineering Limited have intensified preparations for the next major installation phase of the Katsina 330/132/33kV Transmission Substation Project following a joint inspection of the facility.

The inspection, conducted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, was led by the Assistant General Manager (Transmission), Katsina Sub-Region, Engr. Usman Idris, who received the Imcomtel delegation headed by Engr. Emmanuel Okafor.

The team inspected ongoing civil works, equipment locations and supporting infrastructure to determine the readiness of the site for the next phase of installation.

Of particular importance was the assessment of two 100MVA power transformers delivered to the project site on July 9, 2026, alongside their designated plinths. The transformers are expected to significantly expand transmission capacity in Katsina State and contribute to improved grid capacity across the North-West.

The inspection also covered four newly delivered control rooms, with the team assessing their readiness to accommodate critical protection, monitoring and control systems for the substation.

At the conclusion of the inspection, TCN and Imcomtel aligned on outstanding technical requirements and site preparations, with both sides working towards seamless coordination as the project advances towards completion.

The inspection team also included the Principal Manager, Engr. Mustapha Idowu, and Heads of Technical Departments.
