TCN Restores Power Supply After Emergency Maintenance at Kukwaba Transmission Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has restored power supply following the successful completion of emergency maintenance on a 60MVA power transformer at the Kukwaba 132/33kV Transmission Substation.

TCN said the transformer was successfully restored to service at 8:31pm on Thursday, September 24, 2026, after its maintenance crew completed repairs on a faulty blue-phase circuit breaker pole on the 33kV L31 feeder.

The transformer had been opened and isolated at about 1:35pm on Thursday to enable the maintenance team safely carry out the replacement of the faulty circuit breaker component.

According to TCN, the emergency maintenance was completed successfully, allowing the 60MVA transformer to return to normal operation and power supply to be restored.

The transmission company appreciated customers of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) who were affected by the temporary power interruption during the maintenance exercise for their understanding.

TCN said the restoration followed the completion of the necessary maintenance work at the transmission substation.
