The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a six-hour maintenance exercise at its 132/33kV Kukwaba Transmission Substation in Abuja, scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
TCN Management, in a statement issued on Monday, said the maintenance would take place between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and is aimed at replacing a faulty line circuit breaker on its 33kV L36 feeder, which is connected to one of the substation’s 60MVA 132/33kV power transformers.
The company said the exercise would temporarily affect the ability of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to offtake electricity for onward distribution to customers in several parts of the Federal Capital Territory.
Areas expected to experience the outage include Idu Railway Station, Idu Industrial Zone, CITEC Estate and parts of Lifecamp, as well as customers supplied through the Wuye 1 and Wuye 2 Injection Substations.
TCN explained that the maintenance is necessary to replace the faulty circuit breaker and ensure the reliability of electricity transmission through the substation.
The company apologised to electricity consumers in the affected areas for the inconvenience the temporary outage may cause, adding that the exercise is scheduled to run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
