The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned maintenance exercise on the Gombe-Damaturu-Molai 330kV Line 1, which will temporarily disrupt electricity supply to Damaturu and surrounding areas on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
According to TCN, the maintenance will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and is aimed at enabling contractors to work on the Power Line Carrier (PLC) system and rehabilitate the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system on the transmission line.
The exercise will affect the ability of the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) to off-take electricity for customers in Damaturu and its environs during the four-hour maintenance window.
TCN explained that the planned intervention is necessary to improve the operational reliability of the transmission infrastructure serving the affected areas.
The transmission company apologised to electricity consumers in Damaturu and environs for the inconvenience the temporary interruption may cause, assuring that the disruption is linked to the scheduled maintenance work.
