Troops Rescue 10 Abducted NYSC Members From Kogi Forest

Troops have rescued 10 members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) abducted by suspected kidnappers in Kogi State.

The victims were rescued from Egume Forest in Ofu Local Government Area of the state during an ongoing military operation aimed at dismantling the kidnappers’ hideout and rescuing the remaining victims.

The Director of Defence Media Operations (DMO) confirmed the development to journalists during a military briefing, stating that security forces were still conducting operations in the area to rescue the remaining abducted corps members and apprehend the perpetrators.

The 10 rescued corps members were among 15 NYSC members reportedly kidnapped last week while travelling from Abuja to Bayelsa State.

The kidnappers had reportedly demanded N20 million in ransom from the families of some of the victims.

According to the military, troops are sustaining efforts to locate and rescue the remaining five corps members, while operations are also ongoing to track down and arrest the suspects responsible for the abduction.

The public has been urged to remain calm and vigilant, and to promptly provide security agencies with useful information on suspicious movements or activities that could assist the ongoing rescue operation and lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

The successful rescued of the 10 corps members underscored the continued efforts by the military and other security agencies to protect citizens and combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
