Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 taken from them by terrorists during an operation in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, which took place on Saturday, August 22, followed a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
According to a statement issued by the Theatre’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 2 immediately mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists.
The troops overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.
The six victims were subsequently rescued unharmed, while ₦800,000 earlier taken from them by the terrorists was recovered.
The recovered cash and vehicle were handed back to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
