Yilwatda Mourns Dotun Oladipo, Says Nigeria Has Lost Fearless Media Professional

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has expressed sadness over the death of veteran journalist and publisher, Mr. Dotun Oladipo.

Yilwatda described Oladipo’s sudden death as a huge loss to the Nigerian media industry and the nation, saying his passing had created a painful void at a time when the country needed experienced, courageous and responsible voices in journalism.

In a condolence statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Information Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, on Wednesday, the APC National Chairman said Oladipo’s contributions to Nigerian journalism, particularly his commitment to professional excellence, credible reporting and the advancement of the media industry, would remain indelible.

“Dotun Oladipo was not merely a journalist; he was a committed professional who understood the enormous responsibility of the media to society,” Yilwatda said.

He noted that Oladipo brought professionalism, courage and intellectual depth to his work, while remaining committed to journalism’s role in informing citizens, holding institutions accountable and strengthening democracy.

The APC chairman said the late journalist’s death was a significant loss to his family, colleagues, friends, the Nigerian media fraternity and the country’s democratic project.

Yilwatda commiserated with Oladipo’s family, colleagues and friends, urging them to take solace in the legacy he left behind.

“On behalf of my family, the leadership and members of the All Progressives Congress, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of Dotun Oladipo and the entire Nigerian media. May God grant him eternal rest and comfort all those he left behind,” he said.
