Troops of 1 Brigade, operating under Sector 2 Joint Task Force North West, Operation Fansan Yamma, have eliminated a notorious terrorist kingpin, Alhaji Ma’oli, along with several of his accomplices in an operation carried out on December 26, 2024.
The operation took place in Mai Sheka village, near Kunchin Kalgo town, a location that had suffered under Ma’oli’s reign of terror. Known for extorting illegal levies from residents in Unguwan Rogo, Mai Sheka, Magazawa, and other communities in Bilbis District, Tsafe Local Government Area, Ma’oli’s demise has brought significant relief to locals.
Acting on credible intelligence about terrorists on motorcycles planning an attack in the Bilbis area, the troops swiftly launched a well-coordinated operation that neutralised the terrorists and thwarted their plans. According to military sources, the operation highlights the unwavering commitment of the Joint Task Force to safeguarding communities from violent elements.
Local residents expressed gratitude to the military, describing Ma’oli’s elimination as a turning point in their quest for peace and security. “We can now live without fear,” a resident of Bilbis said.
Operation Fansan Yamma reaffirmed its commitment to tracking down all remaining terrorists and collaborators in Zamfara State and beyond. The military also pledged to continue working with local communities to ensure lasting peace in the region.
Lt. Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, confirmed the operation in a press statement issued on December 27, 2024. He urged the public to remain vigilant and provide actionable intelligence to security agencies.
