Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s leadership role in the West Africa sub-region on the fight against terrorism and countering violent extremism.
Governor Sani-Bello stated this while speaking with journalists at the Counter Terrorism Summit (AQABA RETREAT) in Amma, Jordan. The Summit held 2nd and 3rd December, 2017
The Governor who was on the President Entourage, said President Buhari has demonstrated the determination of the administration to curb terrorism and violent extremism in Nigeria.
“Since 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari has remained focused in his determined effort to end terrorism and counter violent extremism in Nigeria.
“President Buhari also acknowledged global nature of terrorism and has been consistent in reaching out to various blocks at regional, continental and global levels. This Summit (Counter Terrorism Summit, Jordan ) is one of such platforms for comparing notes, sharing learnt lessons.”
Governor Sani-Bello who said he would used the learnt lessons from the summit in confronting security challenges in the state, noted that good governance anchored on robust economy, youth employment is vital to countering violent extremism.
“Learnt lessons from the Summit will be useful in improving on what we are already doing in the state.”
“In countering violent extremism, effort must be made to engender good governance anchored on robust economy and engaging the youth in productive venture.”
Governor Yahaya Bello of kogi State and Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun state also commended President Muhammadu Buhari and called for concerted effort at all levels in countering violent extremism.
