The Director General, National Youth Service Corps NYSC,Brig Gen Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed has assured that participating Corps Members that will serve as ad-hoc staff for the 2023 Elections will remain apolitical to ensure an hitch free exercise.
General YD Ahmed said over 200,000 serving Corps Members representing seventy five percent of ad-hoc staff for the 2023 general elections have been deployed to serve as electoral officers in the 2023 Elections that will commence Saturday 25th February,2023.
The NYSC DG stated this today Tuesday 21st February,2023 while briefing Journalists on the preparedness of the scheme for the forthcoming general elections.
General YD Ahmed assured that the safety and welfare of the participating Corps Members is guaranteed.
“NYSC has mandated the ad-hoc staff to act within the law. Since I took over, I have met the Inspector General of Police, the DSS, NSCDC, INEC to ensure that all hands is on deck for the exercise.
“INEC has assured the NYSC of safety of the ad-hoc staff, police has also assured me that Security will be provided for the corps members
“Welfare and security of corps members is priority of the scheme, INEC has equally assured me of security and welfare of the ad-hoc staff”the DG said.
He however warned that no ad-hoc staff should collect any gift or gratification from politicians
Recall in 2011, NYSC initiated collaboration with INEC to serve as ad-hoc staff for Elections.
“Those deployed in the past as ad-hoc staff have received accolades both within and outside Nigeria, and scheme is ready to do it again”Ahmed added.
The highlight of the event was commissioning of NYSC Distress Call Center by the Director General.

According to NYSC DG, the Distress Call Center was established to enhance security of Corps members on election duty.He stated that the call center would be available for 25 hours and closely monitored for prompt response
