NEC asks Tinubu to withdraw tax reform bills

The National Economic Council (NEC), has urged President Bola Tinubu to immediately withdraw the Tax Reforms Bill from the National Assembly to create room for further consultations and consensus building.   Oyo State Governor ,Seyi Makinde announced this while briefing State House correspondents at the end of the 144th NEC meeting headed by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, in Abuja.   The recommendation was coming following the controversies that trailed the bills.   Makinde explained that the council members agreed that it was important to allow for consensus building and understanding of…

    Veteran actor, Abdulsalam Sanyaolu, popularly known as Charles Olumo and Agbako, is dead.   This was made known in a statement by the president of Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) , Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin on Instagram on Thursday.   He wrote, “#tampanglobal announces the passing of Pa Charles Olumo Sanyaolu, fondly known as AGBAKO. Court grants Reps member ,Alex Ikwechegh N500,000 bail over assault of Bolt driver

A magistrate court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted a N500,000 bail to Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives.   Ikwechegh was arraigned for allegedly assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, outside his Abuja residence.   In a viral video, Ikwechegh is seen in a heated exchange with the driver whom he accused of disrespect for asking him to approach the car to receive his package.   The incident, which occurred on October 27 in the Maitama district of Abuja, sparked outrage on social media.   At the…

President Bola Tinubu, has appointed Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede as the Acting Chief of Army Staff (COAS).   A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, explained that Major General Oluyede will act in the position pending the return of the substantive Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.   Until his appointment, Major General Oluyede served as the 56th Commander of the Elite Infantry Corps of the Nigerian Army, based in Jaji, Kaduna.    

Rivers Judgement: Fubara Must Refund Illegally Spent Funds – says Coalition
