The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has embarked on a community engagement tour across key parts of Abuja to strengthen security collaboration ahead of the 2026 Area Council elections.
The tour, which took place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, covered Mabushi, Life Camp, Katampe, and the Kubwa/Bwari axis of the FCT. Engagement sessions were held in Mabushi and Bwari, bringing together Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives, commercial tricycle and motorcycle operators, and other stakeholders.
The interactive meetings provided a platform for community members to share concerns and observations on prevailing security challenges in their areas. Participants also discussed ways to enhance cooperation with law enforcement agencies for improved service delivery and peaceful coexistence.
Addressing the gathering, CP Dantawaye urged stakeholders to guide youths and residents toward peaceful conduct before, during, and after the elections, stressing that electoral processes should not be treated as a “do-or-die” affair. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to inclusive and community-based policing.
According to the Commissioner, sustainable security can only be achieved through mutual trust, timely information sharing, and active community participation. He assured residents of the Police Command’s readiness to work closely with communities to ensure a safe and credible electoral process.
The Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, stated that the engagement tour reflected the Command’s proactive approach to crime prevention and conflict management ahead of the polls.
She added that the FCT Police Command remained committed to maintaining law and order and fostering peaceful relations among residents as preparations for the 2026 Area Council elections continue.
